squats
i hate squats.
i have a oddly shaped hips that require me to squat like a frog. or a ballerina in first position. pick your preferred analogy.
i have long femurs relative to my torso. and i’m tall. this translates into a squat that resembles a collapsing building.
yet i do squats anyway. why? because i enjoy the results of squats.
i like being strong and capable. there is little i encounter in daily life that i can’t handle. as Mark Rippetoe wrote “Strong people are harder to kill than weak people, and more useful in general.”
i also like that i have nice legs. i’ll never be accused of skipping leg day.

so i squat. even though i hate them.
what thing do you do because you like the result more than you hate the thing?
