i am not a good liar.

i played poker with the guys last night and lost miserably.

to be fair, this was my first time playing in over a decade. but that’s not why I lost.

i don’t know the hands.

i don’t count cards.

i take big risks.

i have tells when i bluff.

poker is a game of patterns.

and the best players don’t just memorize those patterns—they internalize them.

the patterns become part of who they are.

they don’t play the game. they are the game.
